Gajanan

Our resident eleven-year-old Indian male cat.

Gajanan is our resident cat who we adopted in 2008. Gaja, as we call him affectionately, was rescued by kids from our neighbourhood garden after being separated from his mother.

We named him Gajanan since he came to our house on the fifth day of Ganesh Chaturthi. We already had four cats at the time, so some people advised the children to bring him to our house. Since he was just two-weeks-old and very weak, we decided to keep him temporarily. He was infested with ticks and worms, and almost lost his life due to fever and diarrhea. We had trouble finding a doctor as our regular veterinarian was out of town owing to the festival. Luckily, we were able to find a doctor who did home visits. Gaja had a close shave with death that day and ever since, he has a love for life that shines through in his calm and friendly behaviour. After that incident, he became a permanent resident of our house.

He was lucky to find us and we feel even luckier to have found him!
