One-year-old male Indian cat.
Pokhlu is a handsome, healthy male cat who is a bit shy but quite loving. Peculiarly, his mother delivered just one kitten instead of an entire litter. He was adopted by a caring family who have pampered him to the fullest. Because of not having any siblings to socialize with and having grown up in a sheltered environment, Pokhlu is slow to accept new places and people.
It took Pokhlu five whole days to step out of a safe corner spot that he had chosen. He would only come out at 2 a.m. to explore the room and would retreat back to his safe spot in a couple of hours. By the sixth day, he understood that we were there to help him be comfortable, so he warmed up to us as if he had always lived at Catopia! He loved approaching us to be petted and he got along with our resident cat Gaja too.
The story behind Pokhlu's name is humourous. When his family adopted him, they thought he was female and named him 'Pokhili' which is the Assamese word for 'butterfly'. But when they realized that the kitten is male, the name was transformed into 'Pokhlu' to give it a masculine twist.
