Nine-year-old male Indian cat
Akbar was one of the most remarkable cats to have been boarded at Catopia. He is already a mature adult at 9 years old and what sets him apart from other cats is that he is partially blind. Despite his condition, we had no trouble with him at all even though he was sharing the room with our Gaja and a couple of other cats during his stay of 10 days. He had fully adapted to navigating his surroundings carefully using his other senses. For cats, sight is a secondary sense anyway - they rely much less on vision compared to humans and depend mainly on smell and sound to make sense of their environment.
Akbar had made the window in the corner of the room his safe spot and would expertly climb down onto the bed and then to floor for feeding and other needs. We only had to show him where everything was once. Akbar then made a mental map of the entire room and would smartly move around without bumping into anything or knocking things over. We were quite impressed with how well he handled himself!
